THE ENGLISH LITERARY ASSOCIATION
LSR’s Department of English is a community of students and teachers who are brought together by their varying degrees of interest in reading, writing, thinking, and applying the ideas of critical inquiry to daily life. The English Literary Association is the formal body that plans and organises events within for the Department – guest lectures, workshops, interactive sessions, performances, and a conference – but what we see as the defining culture of this space extends far beyond the ambit of the formal. We pride ourselves on the diverse skillsets (artistic, musical, theatrical, etc.) of our students and on the openness with which talents, conversations and thoughts are swapped across the years and sections of the Department. We believe that this is a home not only for those of us who wish to explore English Literature through academic avenues (mentored by our wonderful faculty), but also for those who are still uncertain about what they expect of their life and education. Essentially, using literature as a means to help us articulate our questions, we hope to foster active engagement with one another and the world around us.
