Choice Based Credit System:
The CBC system, formulated by UGC, has been implemented in all colleges of the University of Delhi at the undergraduate level. The earlier three-year course has been replaced by a new curriculum.
Course Outline:
The new curriculum involves various types of papers, some of which are mandatory whereas others are choice-based:
1. Core Course: This includes 14 core papers that are compulsory for students of English Honours. These papers are studied over the course of six semesters and pertain to various fields of study within English Literature, such as Renaissance Drama, Modern Indian Writing, and Classical Literature.
2. Elective Course: The elective course includes a range of papers which are chosen by students in accordance with college guidelines. This includes papers from other disciplines designed to complement the core course, as well as specialised or advanced papers within the ambit of literature.
3. Ability Enhancement Course: This includes four papers, of which two are mandatory and two are choice-based.

- Generic Elective: An elective course chosen generally from an unrelated discipline/subject, in order to make the curriculum inter-disciplinary and expose students to different arenas of inquiry. The four GE papers are taught in the first four semesters.
- Discipline Specific Elective: Elective courses that offer specialised learning on specific areas of interest within literature. There are four such electives within this course.
- Dissertation: An optional dissertation may be undertaken by students at a later stage.
3. Ability Enhancement Course: This includes four papers, of which two are mandatory and two are choice-based.
- Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course: The two papers within this category- Environmental Science and English/Modern Indian Languages- are mandatory for all disciplines and are taught in the first year.
- Ability Enhancement Elective Course: These papers are chosen from a pool of courses to enhance skill-based learning.
