EVENTS AND ARCHIVES
The English Literary Association organizes a number of events in college throughout the year in order to encourage a broader understanding of the curriculum. By facilitating discussions and debates, it encourages the students to engage with various aspects of the canon, as well as to question it. Under its aegis, you could be listening to experts dissect texts, writers discuss their works, watch film adaptations of literary classics, or present papers on topics of your interest.
In November 2007, the Association initiated Litmus, our annual inter-college literary festival. Litmus revolved around a different theme each year and consisted of paper presentations by students, a panel of distinguished speakers and a series of light-hearted, competitive events like quizzes, treasure hunts and our annual creative-writing competition.
Throughout the year, students from the Department take part in numerous events in the University as well as outside it. We present papers, attend seminars and participate in various competitive events. By engaging with undergraduates beyond the confines of the college, the students are able to cultivate a more holistic view of their literary pursuits.
Every year the students partake in an unofficial department trip to indulge in some leisurely activities and take a break from the busy schedules of undergraduate life. The trip is organized in the fall semester. It gives the new students an opportunity to know their classmates and seniors better and build lasting relationships with them.
