The Annual English Department Symposium Litmus took place on March 11th and 12th, 2016 on the theme “Bodies of Conquest: Narratives of Territory in Mythology”. The symposium included panel discussions, student discussions and paper presentations. An art and photography exhibition titled “Mapping the Self” was also organized which dealt with the theme of the symposium. The traversal of narratives, from individual to collective consciousness, is often conducted in such a manner that the body is eventually realized as a site – brimming with potential contained in its altercation with mythology. This is an area that the department explored, deconstructed and reconstructed.
