Fare Thee Well: Farewell Of Prof. Rukshana Shroff
'There's so much good in the worst of us and so much much bad in the best of us that it hardly beholds any of us to talk about the rest of us.'
The English Literary Association of LSR organised a Virtual Farewell Ceremony for Professor Rukshana Shroff on 20th January 2022. The ceremony saw in attendance other faculties, ex-students and present students of the English Department of LSR.
After welcoming everyone to the event and a formal introduction to Professor Rukshana Shroff, everyone engaged in a few fun activities. The first game, ‘Guess the play by the Emojis’ was hosted by the Archives team. It was a different version of the quiz that Prof. Rukshana Shroff usually plays with her students when she teaches a new class. Everyone had to guess the name of the plays that RS had taught and other Shakespearean plays with the help of emojis. The next game, ‘Guess the Gibberish’ is taken up by the Ideation team. In this game, Prof. Rukshana Shroff had to identify the popular lines from Shakespearean plays with the help of the gibberish. In both the games, she initially takes a little time to get acquainted with the activities, where students and other faculty members help her. Gradually she aces the games really well.
After the games everyone take a walk down the memory lane with Prof. Rukshana Shroff. The Web and Publicity Team present a video of her journey at LSR, both online and offline. After this the faculties talk about their personal experiences with and anecdotes about her. The ex-students and the present students also share their experiences and stories.
Professor Ruksana Shroff then extended gratitude for the farewell ceremony. She asks everyone to be who they are and cherish the worthwhile in them and others. With the anecdotes and farewell messages, everyone bid her a goodbye with the hope of meeting her again.
